When we are experiencing trauma our minds tend to make sense of what happened to us from a perspective of somehow “its my fault” “I could have done something” “I am weak”. Blaming ourselves for what happened is very common outcome of trauma. These perceptions then permeate throughout our lives as a lens to the world. Compassion towards ourselves, what we have gone through and how hard it was and still is to get through it, brings a sense of care and understanding towards ourselves that helps us to begin to heal. Self judgement and blame leads to further suffering.
