What is Trauma?
Psychological trauma is an injury that often can't be seen from the outside but when we scan the brain there are significant differences.
Traumatic experience initiates a stress response in the body and brain, and if the stress response is repeated and prolonged then over time the biological system has to adapt to survive. This negatively impacts the development and functioning of the neurological and physiological systems of the individual. People find themselves so used to living in survival mode that they are not even aware.
